About the course
The course will be taught by two award-winning professionals – a veteran network news reporter-producer and a multi faceted video editor and director. Participants will produce a professionally shot, written and edited news story individually or as teams. These stories will be shot in Prague and will be suitable for on-line resumes.
Participants will learn:
- How to write and structure a news script, tailoring words to match video
- Interview essentials
- On camera techniques for reporters
- How to properly record interview audio and natural sound
- How to shoot a news story using correct framing of shots and basic lighting
- What types of cameras work best in different news situations (camcorder, DSLR, smartphones)
- Script structure and writing to video
The participants will be using video cameras and handheld mics both wired and wireless. The classroom will include 15 computers with Avid’s News Cutter editing program. Students may also bring their own cameras – camcorder or DSLR. Smartphone video should be integrated into the final produced stories.
