Joe Cook
Joe Cook is a media and communications professional with more than 25 years of experience encompassing local, national, and international journalism, and corporate & financial public relations across Central Europe.
In 2003 he established Cook Communications, a corporate, financial, and consumer public relations company with full-service offices in Prague, Budapest, Sofia, Bucharest, and Warsaw, plus operations in Bratislava, Belgrade, and Vienna. Prior, Joe was The Economist correspondent in Prague in 1992-99, and also travelled widely around the region reporting for the weekly. He was Czech & Slovak correspondent (93-94) and Regional Correspondent (95-98) and an Editorial Board Member of Business Central Europe, The Economist’s specialist business magazine for the region. In 1998 Joe helped to establish Ziarul Financiar, Romania’s first business daily newspaper, and was the newspaper’s launch editor in chief. In 1992-99 he reported regularly for the Financial Times (including a spell as Romania correspondent), The Guardian, The Times, and other newspapers and magazines from Central Europe in 1992-99.
In Hungary in 2010-11 Cook Communications established and started to sponsor the Gabor Komaromy Scholarship for news reporting, which is open to all full-time students in Hungary.
