Gro Engen

Journalist since 1999. First she was a reporter in TV and radio news until 2003, reporting from the northern part of Norway. Then she moved to the capital Oslo where she began to work in the debate editorial as a researcher and producer. After a few years she was hosting one of Norways biggest news and debate Magazines on Radio P1 and P2, “Ukeslutt.” (“End of the week”) From 2012-2014 Engen made investigative radio documentaries with the Documentary department in NRK. She made documentaries about female violence against men; the combination of psychiatry, drugs and violence; Norwegian gypsies and the exploitation of truck drivers from eastern Europe, driving them to crime for survival. Since 2014 she has been one of the editors of NRKs debate sites on the web, Ytring (Opinion). It is one of Norway’s biggest debate sites online, and is a place where both the prime minister and the man in the street gets to Since 2019 Engen has been the editor of “Einig?” (“Do you agree?”)– the new debate show in NRK on TV – where the rules have changed. There is no host, the participants are not allowed to interrupt or speak in a technical political language, but shall try to listen, ask each other questions and maybe there will be some understanding between them, as well? It is compared to a dinner party. You sit down with people you like, but disagree with. And the discussion around the table, in a friendly manner, where you are curious, listens and asks questions, is what “Einig?” is looking for.
