Michael T. Kaufman Fellowship
Beginning in 2015, TOL was offering a fellowship for each of its journalism courses in honor of Michael T. Kaufman, the late founding editor of Transitions, TOL’s print predecessor. and a long-time foreign correspondent at The New York Times.
The fellowship was designed to encourage students from North America, Western Europe, and Australia to explore and report on Central and Eastern Europe.
What did the fellowship include?
Fellows had their entire course tuition covered, which included accommodation, lectures, coaching on a real-life writing assignment, and some meals.
We are happy to announce the two winners of TOL’s Michael T. Kaufman Fellowship 2015:
Irene Broer – the Netherlands
Lars Gesing – Germany
Watch the video below to see what the other recipient of our July 2015 Foreign Correspondent fellowship, Irene Broer from the Netherlands, thinks about the impact of the course on her journalism career.
