Alastair Reid

Alastair Reid is a social media journalist at Press Association (PA), the UK’s oldest news agency, specializing in finding and verifying newsworthy material on social media for news organizations across the UK. Before starting at PA he was managing editor at First Draft, a non-profit organization that aims to raise skills and awareness in social newsgathering, digital verification, journalistic ethics, and investigating online misinformation. This work took him to newsrooms around the world, including Al Jazeera, the Guardian, Pro Publica, and the Danish Broadcasting Corporation, training journalists and covering stories such as the siege of Aleppo, the U.S. election, the attempted coup in Turkey, and the Brussels attacks. He was previously editor of Journalism.co.uk, Europe’s leading publication on developments in digital journalism.
